We’ve all been there: standing in front of our closet, looking at dozens of clothes and wondering what to wear. Whether we’re in a rush in the morning, looking for something suitable for a special occasion, or simply can’t decide what to wear, this problem can be a source of stress in our daily lives. If you’ve ever thought about creating a capsule wardrobe, this problem can be solved. A capsule wardrobe is a collection of versatile, well-thought-out, and easy-to-mix clothing that can be used to create a variety of different outfits. This approach can be beneficial in many ways, including reducing stress and daily clothing decisions, saving money and time, and reducing the negative impact of fashion on the environment.

So how do we create the perfect capsule wardrobe? First, you need to consider your personal style and your daily needs. In general, a capsule wardrobe should include around 30 items, including everyday clothes, office clothes, sportswear and evening wear, depending on your personal style and needs. Second, you need to look for quality and versatile clothing items. These include simple shirts, classic trousers, skirts, blouses, T-shirts and blazers. In addition, you need to consider the colors. Try to choose colors that match your personal style and that are easy to combine with each other, such as white, black, gray and blue. Third, you should not be afraid to invest in quality clothes. While it can be tempting to buy cheap clothes that look good at the moment, they can quickly deteriorate and need to be replaced frequently. Invest in quality clothes that will last longer and save you money in the long run. Finally, you should also consider accessories like belts, bags, and shoes. These can easily change the look of an outfit and can be used to add a colorful accent.

With these tips in mind, we propose our favorite method for building a capsule wardrobe. If you have already read the article "About style and how to find it" you will remember that you created two mood boards on Pinterest, one called "Inspiration" and another called "New me" . Based on the images you chose in the "New me" board, you can now create "outfit sets" that will later turn into your capsule wardrobe. If you haven't done this exercise yet, you can get inspired by our selection HERE . Let's get started!

First things first - let's start with the basics

See if the outfits on your board use the same item of clothing in multiple outfits. For example, you could have a white collared shirt worn with jeans, with a midi skirt, layered over a dress, etc. This should happen naturally, as we gravitate towards certain items more than others. However, if you don’t have many repeat items, pick five items that you really love that are very versatile and search for different outfits on Pinterest that incorporate those items (that you would like to wear) and add them to your board. It doesn’t have to be the exact same item, but it can be something general. Outfit List Your next step is to make a list of “outfit sets.” Scroll through your Pinterest board and write down on page eight of the Sustainable Style Guide , the 20-30 outfits that you would like to wear every day. You can jot down 15 outfits from images on Pinterest and then use the items in those outfits to create new outfits for your list. So, if you jotted down “flared pants + white t-shirt + leather jacket” and “floral dress + sandals,” you can also add “floral dress + leather jacket.” But only add outfits that you would actually want to wear! It’s time to build your list! Now, write each item on that list individually on page nine of your Sustainable Style Guide . You’ll probably have about 20-40 items listed. If you have a lot more, cut a few out and try to make multiple outfits using repeated items. Separate your list into categories (like outerwear, tops, sweaters), if you haven’t already. See if you’ve left anything out or if you need to add more tops or pants, etc. You can also add a few key accessories at this point. Focus on accessories that you will wear regularly and that match the outfits you have chosen. Now you have a capsule wardrobe list! We know that the process itself is not easy, but when you think about how much time you will save in the future, it is worth all the effort. As I said before, it is recommended to set aside time for this exercise to really benefit you! With such a capsule, you can build dozens of outfits that you feel excited about. They are not just individual pieces that you love; they form a coherent capsule wardrobe, built on your style, lifestyle and color preferences. Because it is so easy to combine them, getting ready in the morning becomes much more enjoyable!
